S.C.A.N. 1 Gallon [Stamford]

Stamford SCAN, a Solvent Conditioner and Neutralizer, is a product unique in concept and design. It's purpose is twofold;

1) to neutralize any foreign odor that may occur in the water phase of a perchloroethylene water separator and

2) to reduce the acidity of solvent passing through the separator.

It is well established that most solvent related odor problems encountered in a perchloroethylene system originate in the water separator. The odor bodies are water soluble and are imparted to the solvent by surface contact. Older methods of control by flushing or frequent cleaning create additional hazardous waste.

SCAN controls any odors present and does not generate or create any excess hazardous waste. The deodorizing agent in SCAN is patented. Both solvent odor and acid corrosion of metallic surfaces in drycleaning equipment appear to have a greater propensity with the new, non vented highly solvent efficient machines.

SCAN is most effective in water with a pH between 7.5 and 8.5.

Begin by adding 1 oz. of SCAN to the separator water daily. Obtain pH test strips from a garden store or scientific supply house.

Test the pH of the separator water 3 times a week, following the instructions on the test strips. Increase the dosage of SCAN, if necessary, until a pH of 7.5 - 8.5 is achieved and maintained. Once the dosage is established, testing can be reduced to twice a month.
